CFTC Designates ELX Futures, L.P. As A Contract Market
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) approved the application of ELX Futures, L.P. (ELX) for designation as a contract market on May 22, 2009. ELX is a Delaware limited partnership and is owned directly by individual members of ELX Futures Holdings, LLC, (Holdings), a limited liability company and the sole general partner of ELX. Equity interest in ELX is also owned indirectly by the members through Holdings, in the form of a general partnership interest.

FINRA Charges Six Former Brookstreet Securities Brokers With Fraud In Connection With Retail Sales Of Collateralized Mortgage Obligations - Many Customers Suffered Substantial Losses To Retirement Savings
The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) today announced charges against six brokers formerly associated with Brookstreet Securities Corporation, a now-defunct nationwide brokerage firm based in Irvine, CA, including fraud and making unsuitable recommendations to retail customers in the sale of collateralized mortgage obligations (CMOs).

TMPG And SIFMA Finalize Closing Time Practice Recommendations For Delivering Fedwire-Eligible Securities
The Treasury Market Practices Group (TMPG) and the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) today finalized their closing time practice recommendation for delivering Fedwire-eligible securities. The TMPG and SIFMA recommend that market participants adopt these updated closing time practices, effective July 1, 2009.[1]

Workshop Planned To Discuss Contract Design In Futures Markets - Workshop Co-sponsored By The Commodity Futures Trading Commission, USDA Economic Research Service, And Farm Foundation
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Economic Research Service, and Farm Foundation will hold a joint workshop on Contract Design in Futures Markets. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. to 5 p.m., and on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Waugh Auditorium, USDA Economic Research Service, 1800 M St. NW, Washington, DC 20036.

SEC Charges 10 Brokers With Fraud For Disguising Risks Of Investing In Mortgage-Backed Securities
The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged 10 brokers with fraud for falsely marketing investments in derivatives of mortgage-backed securities as safe and suitable for retirees and others with conservative investment goals. The SEC alleges that the brokers enriched themselves with millions of dollars in commissions and salaries while the investors suffered millions of dollars in losses.

CME Group Announces Modifications To Interest Rate Swap Futures - Notional Coupon Rate Dropped To Four Percent - Expansion To Four Quarterly Expiries - Fee Waiver Extended
CME Group, the world's largest and most diverse derivatives exchange, today announced an extension to the block fee waiver, and changes to the notional coupon and listing schedule for Interest Rate Swap futures contracts. These contracts are listed with, and subject to, the rules and regulations of CBOT.

Eurex To Introduce Additional Index Dividend Futures Introduction On 22 June 2009
The international derivatives exchange Eurex is to launch four new futures product based on the dividends of the SMI, Dow Jones EURO STOXX Select Dividend 30, DivDax and Dax Kursindex (Price Index) respectively as of 22 June 2008.
