The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Economic Research Service, and Farm Foundation will hold a joint workshop on Contract Design in Futures Markets. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. to 5 p.m., and on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Waugh Auditorium, USDA Economic Research Service, 1800 M St. NW, Washington, DC 20036.
The workshop, which will be chaired by Sarahelen (Sally) Thompson, Director of Market and Trade Economics Division of the USDA Economic Research Service and Jeffrey Harris, Chief Economist of the CFTC, will provide a forum to discuss critical issues and market conditions that affect the design and performance of commodity futures contracts. The workshop will bring together leading academics and practitioners working on contract design issues to present their research papers and to discuss issues in a moderated panel discussion.
