Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In S&P/TSX Canadian Indices
Standard & Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces the following index changes: The shareholders of Cadence Energy Inc. (TSX:CDS) have accepted the $CDN6.75 cash per share offer from Barrick Gold Corporation (TSX:ABX). Cadence Energy will be removed from the S&P/TSX SmallCap and Equity SmallCap indices after the close of trading on Friday, September 19, 2008.

United Rentals, Inc. To Pay $14 Million To Settle Financial Fraud Charges
The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged one of the world's largest equipment rental companies, United Rentals, Inc. (URI), with engaging in fraudulent transactions to meet company earnings forecasts and analyst expectations. The SEC also charged the company with a broad range of other improper accounting practices.

U.S. Futures Exchange To List Mini-Sized U.S. Dollar-Denominated DAX® Futures Contract - New Contract To Offer Global Market Participants A Cost-Effective Means To Trade Germany’s Premier Stock Market Index In U.S. Dollars
U.S. Futures Exchange (USFE) has announced an exclusive licensing agreement with Deutsche Börse to launch a mini-sized U.S. dollar-denominated DAX® futures contract (mini$ DAX® future). The new contract carries a $10 multiplier, enabling U.S. market participants to gain exposure to Germany’s leading stock market index in a cost-effective fashion without currency exposure. The mini$ DAX® future will be available for trading beginning October 1, 2008.

In a settlement reached with the Financial Services Authority (FSA), Steven Harrison, a former hedge fund manager, agreed not to act as a fund manager or trader for 12 months and to pay a £52,500 fine.
