April 2009 Monthly Preliminary Performance Report Dow Jones-AIG Commodity Indexes
The Dow Jones-AIG Commodity Index was up 1.14% for the month of April. The Dow Jones-AIG Single Commodity Indexes for Tin, Nickel and Lead had the strongest gains with month-to-date returns of 21.81%, 17.01%, and 12.88%, respectively. The three most significant downside performing single commodity indexes were Natural Gas, Corn and Cocoa, which were down -13.12%, -6.99%, and -6.52% respectively, in April.

Council Of The European Union Strengthens Tools To Counter Financial Market Instability And To Enhance Liquidity
The Council adopted a directive amending directives 98/26/EC on settlement finality in payment and securities settlement systems and 2002/47/EC on financial collateral arrangements as regards linked systems and credit claims (3742/08 REV2), following a first reading agreement with the European Parliament.

Council Of The European Union: European Economic Recovery Plan - Financing
The Council confirmed its agreement on a joint declaration with the European Parliament and the Commission on the financing of the European Economic Recovery Plan (EERP) totalling EUR 5.0 billion (8430/09). At the same time, the Council approved a revision of the multiannual financial framework (8623/09) and an amending budget, necessary to secure the financing of the EERP in 2009 (8624/09).

At the end of the settlement date of April 15, 2009, short interest in 2,521 NASDAQ Global Market(sm) securities totaled 6,608,646,412 shares compared with 6,950,034,522 shares in 2,528 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of March 31, 2009. The mid-April short interest represents 3.09 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.02 days for the prior reporting period.
