SET Announces A New List Of Securities To Be Included In The Calculation Of The SET50 Index - BT CCET Major Tisco And ITD To Be Added Starting 1 Jan 03

The Executive Vice President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), Ms Patareeya Benjapolchai, announced that the SET had selected a number of new securities to be included in the calculation of the SET50 Index for the first half of 2003 (1 January - 30 June 2003). The selection of these securities is based on market capitalization and specific liquidity criteria. Trading statistics for the period 1 December 2001 - 30 November 2002 were used for the calculation. Furthermore, eligible securities must neither be suspended for a long period, nor face possible delisting.

Five securities are added to the list: Bankthai Plc. (BT) from the Banking Sector, Cal-Comp Electronics (Thailand) Plc. (CCET) from the Electronic Components Sector, Major Cineplex Group Plc. (MAJOR) from the Entertainment and Recreation Sector , TISCO Finance Plc. (TISCO) from the Finance and Securities Sector and Italian-Thai Development Plc. (ITD) from the Property Development Sector These five securities replace National Petrochemical Plc. (NPC) from the Chemicals and Plastics Sector, BIG C Supercenter Plc. (BIGC) and Siam Makro Plc. (MAKRO) from the Commerce Sector, AEON Thana Sinsap (Thailand) Plc. (AEONTS) from the Finance and Securities Sector and Saha-Union Plc. (SUC) from the Textiles, Clothing and Footwear Sector.

In addition, these five securities will also be keep in reserve as possible substitutes: Asian Property Development Plc. (AP) from the Property Development Sector, ITV Plc. (ITV) from the Entertainment and Recreation Sector, Sahaviriya Steel Industries Plc. (SSI) from the Building and Furnishing Materials Sector, The Aromatics (Thailand) Plc. (ATC) from the Chemicals and Plastics Sector and The Siam Industrial Credit Plc. (SICCO) from the Finance and Securities Sector. This will be in case any of the originally selected fifty securities are subsequently removed from the calculation of SET50 Index.
