Share trading value in Doha Securities Market rose by 3.3 percent to 40,995,893.10 riyals during the week ending Thursday 24.10.2002 , compared to 39,683,084.90 riyals during the previous week, while the price index of the market gained 12.87 points , or 0.58 percent to close at 2256.52 points, compared to 2243.65 points.

Trading volume decreased by 23.1 percent to 882,538 shares, compared to 1,148,329 shares while the number of deals contracted increased by 0.8 percent to 364 shares, compared to 361 shares. The banking sector led trading acounting for 61.7 percent of the total trading value, with 418,128 shares valued at 25,298,505.60 riyals, followed by the service sector which accounted for 31.0 percent with 357,647 shares valued at 12,716,702.10 riyals . The insurance sector came third accounting for 6.4 percent of the total trading value with 102,060 shares valued at 2,636,918.40 riyals, followed by the industry sector which accounted for 0.9 percent with 4,703 shares, valued at 434,676.00 riyals.

9 stocks out of 24 listed companies ended higher, 9 declined, 5 remained unchanged and one was untraded.

Doha Bank led trading acounting for 34.6 percent of the total trading value, followed by Qatar National Bank which accounted for 12.4 percent, while Qatar Telecom ranked third accounting for 10.1 percent.
