Placing Traders, the online recruitment, marketing and networking site, has announced a major growth in functionality and thus a substantial expansion to its range of services with the introduction of a multimedia biography database, links to external social networking sites and trading news.
Launched some 18 months ago, Placing Traders is positioned primarily to support recruitment agencies, job seekers, freelancers, consultants and employers in the Commodities, Energy, Fixed Income, Forex and Equity trading spaces.
In the last 18 months, according to MD Vicki Meddows-Smith, the Site has been in the process of constant development. “We want to make full use of web technology to provide our members with a fast, comprehensive service rather than simply an online brochure,” she said. “To that end Placing Traders is introducing ‘Trading People’, a new CV or biography database feature that includes a range of functions through which seekers of either fulltime or freelance employment, or those offering professional services to the trading community, can show facets of their work beyond a simple Word description.
“At the same time,” Ms Meddows-Smith added, “Placing Traders is incorporating Directories of Blogs, and Twitter feeds and an exchanges and trading news line from Mondo Visione – for over 25 years, a leading source of insight and knowledge about the world’s exchanges and trading venues. Other companies are invited to add RSS news feeds and corporate PR departments can post their releases directly to the site.
The Placing Traders site has already gained traction among international recruitment agencies who also welcome the roll-out of the new functionality.
“Placing Traders has been a long overdue and incredibly useful resource in the professional trading community to date,” said Matthew Hoyle of MTFM Hong Kong. “I have no doubt the new Trading People platform will prove to be a superb addition to the website and will outshine any other initiatives out there,” Hoyle added.
A key feature of the platform is Placing Traders’ new Trading People database facility designed as an online multimedia resource for industry players to add their professional profiles held either privately or displayed publicly. Public profiles, which can include links to PowerPoint Presentations, YouTube Clips (including voice statements), and so on, will be searchable under various criteria including: experience, languages, market sector, job role and key words.
The Placing Traders business model is primarily directed to earning income from recruitment agencies and employers promoting jobs on the site. However, in the near future, all members, consultants and providers of professional services – as well as sponsors such as trading exchanges – will have the option to subscribe to additional premium services.
