The 12,726,936 transactions registered in share products only in October show a 17.1% growth compared to September, and a 14% growth year-to-date compared to the same period last year. The average daily number of trades in shares reached 553,345, an increase of 6.9% compared to the month before.
The total turnover in shares of €131 billion through Euronext electronic orderbook is up 13.2% on September 2002. The average daily turnover in shares amounted €5.7 billion in October, up 3.3% on the month before; due to current market conditions, average daily turnover remains down 6.2% year-to-date compared to the same period of 2001.
In October, Euronext is the leader for Trackers in Europe, with a 45.6% market share in trading volume and a €132 million daily average turnover year-to-date.
The Euronext 100 blue chip index and the Next 150 index were respectively up by 12.6% and 6.7% on September 2002.
As of 31 October 2002, the market capitalisation of the 1,494 companies listed on Euronext markets totalled €1,516 billion.
