NZX is hosting over 40 practitioners at the NZX Centre in Wellington today for the Annual Australasian Investor Relations Asssociation (AIRA) Investor Relations course.
NZX Markets Development Manager, Geoff Brown said, "NZX is sponsoring Listed Company representatives to attend the AIRA course this year to provide for our customers some very high quality training targeted for the New Zealand market.
A record number of professionals are taking the opportunity to attend the course and will take back to the companies they represent some valuable learnings on Investor Relations from experienced IR practitioners and capital market participants."
The 2009 New Zealand course is a full day event developed to give practitioners an overview of the Investor Relations (IR) function and provide guidance on developing a successful annual IR programme.
Topics covered at the course today include developing an annual IR calendar, utilising retail broker channels, an investor and media relations toolkit, use of technology and social media and a panel discussion on effective communication with the market with analyst, media and company representatives.
AIRA CEO, Ian Matheson said, "The interest from New Zealand IR practitioners in the AIRA Course this year is the strongest we have ever seen. Listed Companies recognise more than ever how important it is to have a well planned investor relations programme, and we believe that the course will help a greater number of NZX Listed Companies achieve this to the benefit of their investors."
"We support the goal of AIRA, to improve the relationship between listed entities and the investment community. We look forward to a continued relationship with AIRA to advance the importance and standards of investor relations for NZX listed companies," said Brown.
