NZX has today released the NZX Operating Metrics for Half Year 2008. NZX releases the Operating Metrics on the first Tuesday of every month.
Highlights - Half Year 2008
- Number of NZX Real time Data Terminals is up 16% on the same period in 2007 with 10,879 terminals worldwide.
- Total Capital raised has passed $2 billion with a breakdown of $384 million equity and $1.68 billion in debt.
- The NZDX Market had a strong first half in 2008. Capital raising on the NZDX Market was up 45% on the same period in 2007. Total value traded on the NZDX was $903 million in the first half of 2008, a 39% increase on the same period last year. Market Capitalisation on the NZDX Market is up 38% on the same period in 2007.
- Two new firms gained NZX accreditation in the first half of 2008, Aspiring Wealth Management and Ocean Partners. ABN Amro Craigs became a real-time data distributor.
Trading
- Total number of trades was 288,653, an 7% decrease on the same period last year.
- Average daily trades were 2,347, a 7% decrease on the same period last year.
- Total value traded in the first half of 2008 was $15.12 billion, a 10% decrease on the same period last year.
- Average daily value traded was $123 million.
- Total number of trades for the NZSX was 272,727 for the first half of 2008, a 7% decrease on the same period last year. Total value traded on the NZSX was $14.2 billion for the first half of 2008, a 12% decrease on the same period last year.
- Total number of trades for the NZAX was 1,762 for the first half of 2008. Total value traded on the NZAX was $8 million.
- Total number of trades for the NZDX was 14,164 for the first half of 2008, a 3% Increase on the same period last year. Total value traded on the NZDX was $903 million, a 39% increase on the same period last year.
Capital Raised
- Total capital raised in the first half of 2008 was $2.07 billion.
- New equity raised in the was $384 million and new debt raised was $1.68 billion
Other
- Number of NZX Market Data terminals has increased 16% to 10,879.
- The total number of instalment warrants trades was 6,050, a 11% increase on the same period last year. Total value traded for instalment warrants for the first half of 2008 was $32 million.
- Smartshares funds under management (FUM) is $684.6 million across its five ETFs, an 84% increase on the same period last year. Smartshares has a total of 14,946 unitholders.
