The 65 companies listed on Thailand’s Market for Alternative Investment (mai) have altogether reported total 2010 net profits of THB3.23 billion (approx. USD106.14 million), a 45.69% year-on-year rise, after total sales rose 11.08% to THB55.08 billion (approx. USD1.81 billion).
All firms listed companies on the mai have filed in their 2010 earnings reports, as of December 31, 2010. Fifty-four companies, or 83% of mai-listed firms, enjoyed net profits. Moreover, mai-listed firms have paid out total dividends of THB1.85 billion (approx. USD60.70 million), a dividend yield of 6%.
Small- and medium-sized firms listed on the secondary market weathered political turmoil in H1/2010 before their businesses picked up during the latter half, mai President Chanitr Charnchainarong revealed. mai-listed companies have been resilient, adjusting themselves to the changing environment, boosting sales, and maintaining their gross profit margin at 22.32%. The top-5 listed companies with the largest absolute net profit were, in descending order, Goldfine Manufacturers PCL (GFM), ACAP Advisory PCL (ACAP), Kiattana Transport PCL (KIAT), TRC Construction PCL (TRC) and The Brooker Group PCL (BROOK).
Moreover, 11 mai-listed companies managed to boost sales by more than 100% over 2009 results. They were Asia Green Energy PCL (AGE), ARIP PCL (ARIP), The Brooker Group PCL (BROOK), CPR Gomu Industrial PCL (CPR), Evolution Capital PCL (E), International Research Corporation PCL (IRCP), Lighting & Equipment PCL (L&E), Phol Dhanya PCL (PHOL), Porn Prom Metal PCL (PPM), Steel Intertech PCL (STEEL) and Universal Adsorbents & Chemicals PCL (UAC).
Meanwhile, six companies reversed from net losses in 2009 to net profits in 2010. They were CM Organizer PCL (CMO), Chu Kai PCL (CRANE), PICO Thailand PCL (PICO), Thai Mitsuwa PCL (TMW), TRC Construction PCL (TRC) and Three Sixty Five PCL (TSF), concluded Mr. Chanitr.
At present, there are 65 companies listed on mai. As of March 4, 2011, the mai index closed at 266.61 points, with total market cap of THB52.98 billion (approx. USD1.74 billion).
