Trading volume at the DCE in April reached a total of 46,623,558 contracts, which was a decrease of 37.91% compared to the same month last year and a decrease of 12.89% compared to last month. Trading turnover in April reached CNY 2.2662 trillion, which was a decrease of 33.15% compared to the same month last year and a decrease of 15.18% compared to last month. The DCE's trading volume and turnover accounted for 21.52% and 12.53% of the national total respectively. Total trading volume for the first four months of the year amounted to 201.2 million contracts and trading turnover amounted to CNY 10.1628 trillion, which were increases of 1.14% and 24.16% respectively over the same period last year. Open interest at the end of the month was 3,273,620 contracts, an increase of 8.5% over March.
The latest statistics from the China Futures Industry Association show that total nationwide trading volume for the first four months of this year amounted to 861,890,908 contracts and trading turnover reached CNY 64.8789 trillion, which were increases of 60.03% and 124.55% respectively over the same period last year. Total nationwide trading volume for April was 216,641,488 contracts traded worth CNY 18.0813 trillion. Trading volume in April increased by 25.41% over the same month last year and decreased by 18.12% compared to last month, while trading turnover increased by 68.23% over the same month last year and decreased by 5.41% compared to last month.
The China Financial Futures Exchange began officially trading the CSI 300 index futures contract on April 16th. 2,859,176 contracts totaling CNY 2.746 trillion traded on the exchange this month, accounting for 1.32% of the nationwide total volume and 15.19% of total turnover.
