Bursa Malaysia Derivatives embarks on a nationwide educational roadshow called Talk Futures that is primarily aimed to inform and educate Malaysian retail investors on equity, commodity and financial futures trading.
The Talk Futures roadshow, which will run until year-end, currently features nine futures brokers who will share their knowledge on futures trading which includes trading strategies and tools that will assist traders in making trading decisions.
Dato' Yusli Mohamed Yusoff, Bursa Malaysia's Chief Executive Officer who is also the Chairman of Bursa Malaysia Derivatives said, "Talk Futures fits into the Exchange's larger objective of encouraging and engaging the public to view the capital market as an option for trading. The futures or derivatives market is a growing segment of our capital market and therefore, there are untapped opportunities for traders and investors who are entrepreneurial. Talk Futures introduces these opportunities and more importantly, provides retailers helpful insights, strategies and techniques on futures trading. Our derivatives market holds interesting developments to watch for and I am confident that the public will gain better understanding of this market by attending the Talk Futures series of educational programmes."
Dato' Yusli also commented that apart from active futures brokerage firms and corporate institutional firms, entrepreneurial individual participants have also significantly contributed towards the vibrancy of the derivatives market. Dato' Yusli said, "There are plenty of career and business opportunities in our derivatives market and now is the right time for entrepreneurial individuals to become professional derivatives traders. Bursa Malaysia Derivatives is in the process of recruiting entrepreneurial individuals to join the Exchange as local participant members. Local participant members are professional traders who trade for their own account. We welcome all who are interested to seize this opportunity to come and talk to us at the roadshows."
At the Talk Futures event, participants will be able to learn the basics of futures trading, fundamental and technical analysis strategies, as well as the opportunities available in either bull or bear markets. Bursa Malaysia Derivatives acknowledges the key role of futures brokers in educating on the importance of information-based trading. To this end, the Exchange works closely with futures broker partners to roll out Talk Futures in the main cities, and the participating futures brokers include AmFutures Sdn Bhd, CIMB Futures Sdn Bhd, HLG Futures Sdn Bhd, Interactive Futures Sdn Bhd, Inter-Pacific Securities Sdn Bhd, Oriental Pacific Futures Sdn Bhd, OSK Investment Bank Bhd, LT International (M) Sdn Bhd and Phillip Futures Sdn Bhd.
